The aim of the paper was to analyse the costs of carrying out the plant protection treatments compared to the production costs of rape growing, to analyse the pesticide consumption in the rape protection and determine the tendencies of changes, to determine approximate value of the profitability index of weed and pest control treatments. The problems have been solved using vertical analysis, unit costs and statistical methods. The investigations showed that the production costs had increased seven times and the costs of carrying out the chemical treatments of plant protection fluctuated from 1.2 to 8.4 percent of the production cost. In the protection treatments of rape, weed control demonstrates an increasing tendency in the working area as well as in the active ingredient (A.I.) and pest control is decreasing. The pesticide consumption per 1 ha of a rape field has increased from 0.1 kg to 2.1 kg. The approximate value of ranges from 0.2 to 1.43 q for weed control treatment and from 0.09 to 0.64 dt for pest control treatment
