Possibility of using the saprophytic soil fungi in the control of damping-off of pine seedlings induced by Fusarium oxysporum Schl. and Rhizoctonia solani Kuehn.

Considering the necessity of the biological protection of pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings against damping-off, in laboratory conditions there were studied: 1. the effect of some saprophytic soil fungi on the infection of pine seedlings by Fusarium oxysporum and Rhizoctonia solani, 2. the surival of the studied saprophytic fungi in the model soil substrate in the presence of both pathogens. Tests were carried out at temperature +16 and +23 degrees C as well as at 12 percent and 20 percent of water content. The investigations showed that Penicillium lanosum, P. nigricans, P. viridicatum, P. citreviride, P. jenseni, Mortierella isabelina, M. vinacea and Trichoderma viridae are the most promising from the point of view of using them in the biological protection of pine seedlings against Fusarium oxysporum and Rhizoctonia solani
