Studies of some properties of saprophytic soil fungi as possible components of biopreparations for pine seedlings protection against damping-off disease

The investigations on the growth rate and development of 24 fungi used in the experiments on biological protection of pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings against damping-off pathogens showed that: temperature +23 degrees C in comparison with +16 degrees C, stimulated the growth of fungi on the PDA medium. Penicillium ssp. and Trichoderma spp. developed equally good at the lower and higher moisture in the sawdust substrate, at temperature +23 as well as at +16 degrees C and at 70 percent as well as at 50 percent of moisture holding capacity in the soil. Temperature +23 degrees C in comparison with +16 degrees C and moisture = 20 percent in comparison with 12 percent of water content stimulated the development of majority of fungi investigated, in the model soil substrate. The paper gives also some information on the fungi mutual biotic interactions
