Serotonin concentration in the ovarian follicles of the domestic hen (Gallus domesticus)

Serotonin (5-HT) concentration in the hen ovarian follicles in two stages of the egg-laying cycle was determined. Significant differences in 5-HT concentration among 3 largest follicles (F1 - F3) in hens at 23-24 h before oviposition were found. No significant differences in 5-HT concentration among preovulatory follicles in hens at 2-1 h before oviposition were observed. The significantly lower 5-HT concentration in the postovulatory follicle than in F3 and F1 follicles was stated
