The following investigation was conducted to 1. evaluate the quantitative and qualitative differences in soluble and insoluble proteins in several citrus genotypes that differ greatly in cold hardiness, 2. characterize changes in these protein fractions over a 4 week cold-hardiness induction period, and 3. investigate the effect of foliar-applied PGR's (Plant Growth Regulator) on protein metabolism and cold hardiness. There appears to be an association between the appearance and/or absence of specific, soluble proteins and the potential of the relatively more cold hardy genotypes to cold acclimate
