Comparison of effects of liquid manure fertilization with those of mineral fertilizers used in the peat-boggy soil meadow

Experiments were carried out with increasing doses of liquid manure and mineral nitrogen. Effects on the yield, fertilization productivity, botanical and chemical composition of hay were determined. A similar efficiency was reached with mineral fertilization N280P80K160 (totally 520 kg) and 80 cu. m per ha liquid manure containing 540 kg NPK (217+90+233). Gross productivity of the fertilizer doses was in the first case 28.8 kg, second case - 29.6 kg hay for 1 kg NPK. Increasing nitrogen doses decreased Alopecurus pratensis L. in the hay but increased Poa pratensis L. However, liquid manure decreased the share of both grass species. An increase in the K content and a decrease in Mg and Na were noticed in the hay from the liquid manure fertilized meadows. 80 (cu. m)/ha liquid manure applied every second year (alternately with mineral fertilization) may be sufficient in fertilizing peat-boggy soil meadows
