Pig fattening with compound feeds containing increased amounts of ground rye and triticale and an attempt of elimination an antinutritional agent from these grains

The six groups of young pigs were fattened from 30 to 110 kg of live weight on barley ration (control) or one experimental rations obtained by replacing 25, 50 or 75 percent of barley by ground rye or triticale. The level of alcoholresorcinols in triticale was twice lower than in rye grain. No significant effect of replacing part of barley in the rations by rye or triticale on weight gains and carcass quality was stated. No positive effect of soaking rye or triticale grains before introducing them into the pig rations was observed. Replacing barley by rye and triticale improved the digestibility of dry matter, protein, fiber and N free extract and increased the blood haemoglobin and 2 alpha-globulin levels
