Race, biotype and strain characterization of the Moko-disease pathogen in Suriname
1984
Gangadin, S. (Agricultural Experiment Station, Paramaribo (Suriname). Div. of Bacteriology)
Strain determination of the pathogen (Pseudomonas solanacearum) was found to be indispensable for an effective eradication program for the Moko disease (bacterial wilt). Results from laboratory tests indicated that the Moko disease pathogen resembles race 2 and biotype 1. Based on these findings, and the results achieved from the greenhouse experiments, the classification of the Moko pathogen in Suriname led towards strain D.
