Taxonomy and pathogenicity of the fungus causing leaf blight of celery in Suriname
1983
Power, R.H.
Epidemic outbreaks of leaf blight on celery have been noted frequently in all growing regions of this crop. Before this study, indicated in 1975, the primary pathogen associated with this disease in Suriname was assumed to be Septoria apii-graveolentis Dorogin. Because of controversial outcomes in classification, both field and laboratory studies were conducted on this leaf spot disease. Based on the distinct characteristics in pathogenicity, thallus and morphology of fruiting structures on host and artificial media, Cercospora apii. Fresenius is reported now as the causal organism of leaf blight in celery.
