The selection of dairy cattle on fertility using BLUP

The arrticle describes the model and the method BLUP [Best Linear Unbiased Prediction] for the evaluationof breeding values for bulls by the calving interval. A relatively big amount of data (39,915 cows in first lactation) was used for evaluation of statistical parameters and breeding values for bulls. A simple index for the selection is suggested that includes both, the breeding value for milk and the one for fertility. A slighty negative relation between values is found.
