Investigation into effects of crop density and dose of nitrogen fertilization on the yield and yield components of maize has been carried out on the chernozem soil type with the maize hybrid ZPSC 704. The following crop densities were investigated: 40,016, 50,125, 60,024, 70,028, 80,256 and 90,416 plants/ha. The investigated nitrogen doses were 100 kg N/ha, 150kg N/ha, 200 kg N/ha and 250 kg N/ha. Crop density and meteorologic conditions during the investigated years exerted a significant influence upon the yield and components of yield (number of plants and maize cobs per ha, grain mass per maize cob and 1000-grain mass). Fertilization had less influence upon yield and components of yield.
