The investigation was performed using 294 broiler hens of the "B" and "P" lines divided into three groups (repetitions) of 98 hens. The following traits were investigated: the number and average weight of the eggs, the shape index and shell deformation. Hens of the "P" line layed 12.43 eggs more during the short-time of control than the "B" line. For the same period of control, hens of the "B" line layed 3.7 grams heavier eggs on the average than those of the "P" line. The average egg shape index was within the boundaries of optimal values for both of the lines studied. Shell hardness, expressed through shell deformation, was somewhat greater for line "P". With regard to genetics, both line "P" and "B" were stable for most of the more important production traits which was shown by the many times that these traits were inherited by the offspring.
