Conception rate and prolificacy of ewes artificially inseminated in oestrus stimulated with progesterone and PMSG within seasonal anoestrus

The object of this experiment was to estimate conception rate (CR) and prolificacy of ewes single or double artificially inseminated (48 or 48 and 60 hours), after progestagen-PMSG treatment. It was found that the CR, after single AI was 57,6% and after double AI 83,0%, from total number of treated (AI) ewes. Prolificacy (lambs per labed ewe), was 1.39 and 1.40 lambs, after single or double AI, resp. CR after double AI was 83,0% and 92.4% after natural meeting in estimated spontaneous oestrus. Prolificacy was very similar in double AI (1.40 lambs) and natural meated (1.35 lambs) ewes.
