Growing maize, silage sorghum and Sudan grass as second crops

Considering the green mass yield, two silage sorghum hybrids and two Sudan grass hybrids studied, gave higher yields on the average than the 5 maize hybrids. There was no statistically significant difference between the maize and Sudan grass hybrids. The NK 405 silage sorghum hybrid gave higher yields than the NK 326. Sugar sorghum and Sudan grass gave higher yields of dry matter than maize. Maize and sugar sorghum are characterized by a somewhat greater content of dry matter in freshly cut mass than Sudan grass. The Yugoslav hybrid combination, sorghum x Sudan grass called NS-HG2, performed as well as hybrid 855 F (USA). Double cropping with hog millet gave satisfactory results.
