The Fusarium species: F. solani, F. moniliforme, F. oxysporum and F.o.f.sp. cepae, were isolated and determined from rotting onion bulbs, sets, seedlings and soil. F.o.f.sp. cepae and F. solani were found the most virulent in inducing damping off. Both isolates onion origin were equally powerful in onion sets desintegration in vitro experiments. F.o.sp. cepae, F. oxysporum and F. moniliforme isolates of onion origin induced equally intensive decay of infected onion sets in soil. Prestorage treatment with chemicals reduced the weight loss of stored onion sets, during 5 and 8 months. The most effective was mixture of captan and benomyl.
