Development of compatible and incompatible grafts in cultured and explanted internodes
1991
Hossain, M.A. | Yeoman, M.M.
Development of compatible and incompatible grafts was studied in vitro between three leguminous species, Glycine max, Pisum sativum and Vigna sinensis. These leguminous species showed a similar but slower graft development in vitro than in vivo. The dissimilar patterns of xylem differentiation in vitro observed between compatible and incompatible combinations was significant. Compatible grafts were characterized by significant increase in graft breaking weight and the number of xylem connections formed across the graft union with time of culture of grafts. In contrast incompatible grafts did not show such increase in number of xylem connections.
