Two years observation indicated that soil water cycle in a year could be divided into three stages. They were the evaporation stage with quick water increasing in spring, the water restoring compensation stage in summer and fall, and the slow evaporation or permeation stage in winter. In spring, water content in cultivation layer was low. In order to keep the soil moisture to promote the emergence of seedlings, it's better to reduce the times of tillage. In summer or fall, soil water content was high and cultivation and weeding should be done. After harvest, soil should be turned up in time to make the soil retentive. In summer, much cultivation could be practised to avoid the damage from drought
