In Greece, until now, only serological survey has been done, concerning the Pl3 serology in sheep. That was 16 YEARS AGO AND HAD SHOWN 80% positivity by the haemagglutination inhibition test. We examined 468 sera from flocks of six different areas of Northern Greece with the same procedure. From these 154 (32,9%) sera were positive (titers 1/32). Twenty five out of 89 sera came from the province of Pella, 2 out of 56 from Chalkidiki, 15 out of 58 from Serres, 12 out of 23 from Xanthi, 81 out of 238 from Rodopi and 6 out of 39 from the province of Evros. Having 33% positive sheep means that 67% of them should be considered as non immune, that is sensitive to Pl3, infection. This must be taken into account because we are about to start establishing the intensive sheep keeping and need to avoid any serious problem of infectious respiratory disease, similar to that we have in intensively rearing calves.
