Salinomycin favourable influenced the carbohydrate metabolism, through increasing the propion acetic fermentation in the rumen. This is doubly advatangeous, as the energy loss representing methane and CO2 production diminishes and the propion acid can be transformed to carbohydrate within the organism. Flavomycine influences the N-metabolism of the rumen by diminishing the ammonia concentration. Acoparcine increases the pH value of rumen content. The total volatile fatty acid concentration is diminishing. All the three active ingredients variously modified the fermentation, and the proteolyses, besides the same given feed. The optimal protein and energy level, where they can exercise maximum effect, ought to be developed in each active ingredient by supplementing the feeds with such stuffs which would cover the ammonia need of microorganisms.
