Farm Resource Management Program. Core research and training plans 1989/90 season [Cicer arietinum, Lens culinaris, Vicia faba, barley, Triticum aestivum, Triticum durum, and feed crops]
1990
The three major activities (core research, international cooperation, and training plans) of the Farm Resource Management Program for the 1989/90 season are presented. Under the core research the research of the first project, Management of soil, water, and crop nutrients aims to identify technologies which optimize the efficiency of use and the conservation of the physical resources which form the basis of and often are a major constraint to agricultural production. The second project, agro-ecological characterization for resource management, focuses on the development and application of methods to examine the effect of both temporal and spatial environmental variability innovation resource management technologies. The third project focuses on the adoption and impact of new technologies, the final test of the relevance and performance of new technologies developed by ICARDA and the national programs. The program for the training and agrotechnology transfer continues to assist in the development of national research capabilities through its sustained effort on training, both at ICARDA and in-country. The emphasis will remain on training in the use of applied research methods associated with farming systems research, and will include courses on specific aspects of resource management
