A field experiment was conducted at the Agricultural Experimental Station of El-Fateh University in Tripoli, Libya during the 1983-84 seasons to study the growth and yield of three cultivars of faba bean namely Giza, Italiana, and Aquadulce grown under rainfed conditions. The Egyptian cultivar Giza was superior to the other two cultivars in almost all the characters studied. It outyielded cvs Aquadulce and Italiana by 25.8 and 95.5, respectively. Cv Giza gave the highest leaf area index, plant height, number of tillers/plant, and number and weight of seeds/plant. Cv Aquadulce produced the highest 1000-seed weight due to its large seed size
