1987
Tananun Boonsidh
The right gonad size of ovariectomized hens increased in 17 out of 162 birds(10.49 %). There were 12 birds(7.41 %) of testis-liked histological structures,2 birds(1.23 %) of ovarian-liked and 3 birds (1.85 %) of unidentified structure. The testis-liked right gonad showed the developing of the seminiferous tubules, but the degree of development was less than normal cocks. Secondary spermatocytes were also present but spermatid and spermatozoa were absent. Breeds of ovariectomized hens had some effect on size of the right gonad but no effect on development of it. Moreover, levels of both hormones had no effect on size and development of the right gonad but the ovariectomized hens receiving hormones(Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin only, testosterone only and both of them) showed testis-liked right gonad more than those receiving no hormones.
