Effect of seed vigor on growth and yield of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)
1987
Udom Phruksanusak
High vigor seeds showed higher percent field emergence when counted at 7, 14 and 21 days than did the low vigor seeds. Experiment clearly reflected the advantage of high vigor seeds in early plant growth especially during 21-50 days after planting as indicated by plant height, plant dry matter, and leaf area index. In the later stage of growth, however, peanut plants from higher vigor seeds did not show superiority over those from low vigor seeds. It was concluded that seed vigor did not affect either the date of flowering, number and weight of pod per plant, seed weight, or seed yield.
