Effect of Ethrel on morphological characteristics of young leaves at different levels of sugarbeet (Beta vulgaris L.) provision with nitrogen

The investigation was carried out into the effect of foliar application of Ethrel (500, 1,000 and 2,000 ppm of Ethrel) upon morphological characteristics of leaves and the mass of young sugarbeet plants provided with 3 quantities of nitrogen. The plants were grown by the method of water cultures. On the basis of the results obtained it could be concluded that the application of Ethrel significantly reduced the size and mass of leaves with all the investigated nitrogen quantities in the soil. The investigated concentrations of Ethrel had no significant effect upon the root mass but they influenced the number and shape of stomata.
