The variability of milk production has been investigated on five large scale farms. In total 957 were examined: 495 with only one lactation, 268 with two and 194 cows with 3 lactations. The following parameters were recorded: variability of the length of lactation, total milk production, milk fat production, milk fat content and 4% FCM. Above mentioned parameters were recorded in 305 days and in whole lactation. The results are related to the european type of block and white cattle, and are registrated in 1970. Before starting to introduce Holstein bulls imported from USA the above results may help to get a more clear picture about the effects of later breeding programs.
