Iron and copper concentrations were examined in blood sera of 39 high-yielding cows of the domesticated Simmenthal breed with the confirmed reproductive disorders and a high infertility ratio. Blood serum of all the examined animals had a considerably higher iron content than the physiological value and averaged 40.59 micromol/l. On the other hand, copper content was markedly low and amounted to 10.74 micromol/l on average. However, besides reproductive disorders, none of the animals had other clinical symptoms characteristic of hypocupraemia. Moreover, there were no significant differences in the level of the mentioned microelements between healthy animals and those with the reproductive disorders.
