Water resources for rural communities in Enugu and Anambra States, Nigeria: problems and potentials

Different rural water supply sources are identified across the region and the methods and techniques employed as well as the problems/difficulties encountered in harnessing such sources are presented. The Nigerian Government policy and programmes for supplying the rural areas with adequate and suitable water are reviewed in relation to the identified problems. In addition, suggestions are proffered for effective and/or enhanced exploitation of existing water resources of the region for domestic uses and small scale dry season agriculture.
