Winged ants of the genus Myrmica, Leptothorax and Formica, were caught as they gathered to swarm on Wysoka Mount (1052 m a.s.l.) in the Polish Carpathians, during a six year study. Alates were grouped in one multispecies swarming cluster with an outlined species distribution, which remained steady from year to year though the number and the swarming period of particular species changed. The strongly male-biased sex ratios of the species have been ascribed to multiple mating by males, which remain in the swarming cluster longer than females.
