In a pot trial carried out with 23 soils consecutively have been grown wheat and 5 rue-grass windrows under NP fertilization. Under conditions of exhaustive uptake, the chernozems and smolnitzas surpass the gray and cinnamonic forest soils with respect to yield and potassium removal by plants. The calcareous chernozems are characterized by high potassium supplies after all methods, but are of lower up take power than the carbonate free chernozems. The smolnitzas have high supplies of exchangeable and available potassium, but of ralatively low content of reserve potassium. The participation of the reserve potassium in the total removal is comparatively sligher with the smolnitzas(56,9), and highest with carbonate-free chernozems (80,2).
