Evaluation of hybrids corn in late sowing. 1. Green matter production, grain yield and other agronomic parameters

Observations on the "second seeding" of corn, after a wheat crop, were carried out, in order to determine the behaviour of early hybrids of corn present in the market. This research was carried out during 1986/87 and 1987/88 seasons at the Estacion Experimental Agronomica La Rinconada (Maipu, Area Metropolitana) and at the Centro Demostrativo "San Agustin de Aurora", (San Clemente, VII Region), both belonging to the Universidad de Chile. The early corn hybrids in late seedings after a wheat crop, reached satisfactory green matter and grain yields, offering an attractive alternative to the farmers. Consequently, the irrigated soils may be efficiently used for obtaining two consecutive crops in the agricultural season
