The Cholga-tinplate can system was studied according to mechanical, electrochemical and electronic microscopy measurements, being the sea product analysed with or without oil. The results lead to propose that the combination of both the varnish coat weight measurements and the polarization resistance identify the relative degree of corrosion developement. The evaluation of damage by means of electronic microscopy confirms the predictive capability of the two parameters used
