The effect of antiparasitic Fenbion (phenbendasole-based agent made in Bioveta Co., Nitra, Slovak Republic) on total proteins, AST activity and number of leukocytes in blood of the Slovak Spotted heifers in 24 h intervals till 6th day of its single application in dose 5 mg/kg live weight was studied. Heifers were naturally invaded by Fasciola hepatica. The amount of total proteins in individual collections varied irregularly, in one case statistically significantly, but within the physiological standard fluctuated from 67.6 g.l-1 to 72.1 g.l-1. AST activity was detected within the physiological standard from 0.412 to 0.489 mkat.l-1. The lowest number of leukocytes was recorded in collection 2.- 9.25 G/l and the highest - 10.54 G/l in collection 4. This value represents the upper level of the physiological standard. It has proved that Fenbion application causes a short-term increase of leukocytes in blood of heifers.
