Effect of Tigris and Diayla rivers sediments on formation of some alkali project soils

A pedological study was carried out on some alluvial soils in the upper part of the Mesopotamian plain. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mineralogical composition and nature of Tigris and Diayla rivers sediments and their intergradation, also the morphological, chemical and some physical properties of these sediments, in order to understand the dominant soil formation factors in the studied area. From this study it can be concluded that Diayla sediments cover a larger area of the region and its influence on the soil formation is greater than the influence of Tigris river
