To stabilize the direct sowing rice cultivation submerged in Akita Prefecture, the authors attempted to clarify the relation between a cultivation condition and growing behavior, and a safe cropping season centering around the stabilization of emergence and establishment. To secure the stabilization of emergence and establishment, a sowing period was made clear on the basis of the temperature condition from sowing to an emergence completion period and a safe heading time. Since the lowering of establishment is made easy to generate by early sowing, the sowing at a period capable of securing average temperature of 14 degrees C is convenient at the present point of time from a viewpoint securing the stabilization of establishment. Further, in the water control during a period from sowing to an establishment time, the keeping warm control up to the emergence completion period and the shallow water treatment around 1-leaf stage after the completion of emergence were carried out in order to increase the effect for securing establishment. From a viewpoint of the relation between a cultivation condition and growing behavior, a heading time was delayed about 10 days as compared with mechanical transplantation in an early-ripening variety like "Akihikari" but a sufficient period was confirmed up to the safe heading time. As the present object of yield, 66 kg/a is regarded to be proper and the growing objective value therefore was shown. Further, the adaptation area of this cultivation method was set to the flat land south of the center of the prefecture and, at the present point time, the execution of this cultivation method in the north of the prefecture was considered to be difficult
