Nutrient requirement of flue-cured tobacco

Identical trials, 17 for macro- and 4 for micro-nutrients, were conducted on farmers' fields on a cross section of tobacco growing soils in the Iringa Region, Tanzania over three consecutive seasons to assess N, P, K, Cu and Zn requirements of flue-cured tobacco. The effect of N and P on leaf yield were significant (PSO.01) in most cases but that of K was only in a few trials. However the N, P and K interactions affected the leaf yield significantly while the effects of Cu and Zn were variable and non-significant
