Studies were performed in a strict long-term, static field experiment on the effect of increasing potato share in crop rotation (from 20 percent in the control to 40 and 60 percent) upon infestation of spring barley with weeds. The highest weed density in the tillering phase of barley was observed in a control corn crop rotation system. As the break in potato cultivation decreased, so did the density of weeds. The highest weed reduction was obtained in the crop rotation system with the highest share of potato. Chenopodium album constituted the main component of barley agrophytocenosis
