Economics of spices and pulse crop intercropping with off season seed crop of Corchorus olitorius [in Bangladesh]

An experiment was conducted to assess the economic performance of intercropping of spices and pulse crops with off season seed crop of Corchorus olitorius. The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during November, 1989 to April, 1990. The BCR (Benefit Cost Ratio), LER (Land Equivalent Ration) and Monetary advantages of the intercropping ranged from 1.20 to 2.70, 22-39% and 18-28% respectively. The BCR, LER and Monetary advantage were highest from garlic with off season jute seed crop and these were lowest from lentil with jute seed crop. The Monetary advantages of coriander with jute and onion with jute was 36% in each case.
