Influence of NPK on the growth, yield attributes, yield and biochemical parameters of garlic [in Bangladesh]

An investigation was made to study the NPK effect on the growth, yield components, yield and biochemical characteristics of multi-cloved garlic. Maximum plant height, bulb weight, bulb circumference and yield were recorded with maximum dose of 120 kg each of N, P(2)O(5) and K(2)O/ha. Sixty kg of each of N, P(2)O(5) and K(2)O/ha produced the highest percentage of oil. The physico- chemical characteristics of the oil, such as density, refractive index and optical rotation were determined and the values were found comparable to those reported in the literature. The acid value of the oil was estimated for the first time in the present study.
