The weight gain, tibia length, tibia ash content of chicks deficient in zinc were less than those of normal chicks (P0.01), and zinc concentration in liver, tibia, kidney and pancreas was also significantly lower than that of the normal ones (P0.01). Coefficients of correlation of serum alkaline phosphatase activity with Zn concentration in liver, kidney and tibia between the tested and the normal groups were 0.90, 0.93, and 0.97 respectively with significance P0.01. The result shows that the Zn bioavailability is higher in deficient chicks than in normal ones, and the activity of serum alkaline phosphatase is a reliable indicator of Zn deficiency
