Prunings can be burnt or utilized for nutrient replacement, heating, composting and for industrial or other purposes. They are of the greatest significance in the heating of farms and stables, technological facilities and buildings. Among the handling and processing operations, greatest attention must be paid to the chopping up of the prunings. In large farms, stronger versions of roughage choppers chopping machines used in forestry, or machines specially developed for the purpose are used to process the prunings. For use in small farms, the KNYA-1 type of machine for chopping trimmings was developed in 1991. The work cycle consists of 2 phases, one which pushes the prunings forward and one which chops them. It is advisable to collect large piles of prunings before putting the machine into operation
