On the average of 1970-1991 the grain yield of maize (t ha-1) was the following as per N-treatments: N0:3,56, N80: 6,93, N160: 8,12 and N24o: 8,00. In wet years the grain yield of maize was higher depending on the N-treatment by 1,13-2,28t ha-1 than in the dry years. The proportion of infertile plants the grain number per ears and the thousand-grain-mass contributed to yield decrease in maize in the N-insufficient treatments and in adverse years, resp. The result of regression-analysis proved a very important effect of year on the N-fertilizer-reaction of maize hybrids. Both factor and linear component of second order function decreased significantly in dry years
