A preliminary study on the efficacy of Cassia alata (ketepeng) leaf to treat the skin disease was undertaken using ten rabbits (New Zealand) naturally infected with Psoroptes cuniculi in both ears. The animals were randomly divided into two groups, treatment group and control group. An aqueous suspension of 50 percent ketepeng leaf was applied weekly to the ears of animals in the treatment group. The life mites counts were carried out from the scrab collected from both ears. After 4 weeks, there was a significant reduction in the live mite numbers in group receiving the medication (P 0.05). The scabs in the ears of treatment group were reduced and the area of ears investigated were getting smaller, which indicated the effectiveness of the treatment
