The influence of organic and foliar fertilizers on the growth and production of rhizome of ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.)

An experiment to study the influence of organic and foliar fertilizers on the growth and production of rhizome of ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) had been carried out from December 1988 to June 1989. The use of organic fertilizer increased growth and production of fresh rhizomes of ginger, the increasing number of fresh rhizomes of organic fertilizer treated ginger plants were 20.48 percent, 11.24 percent and 14.96 percent by Kariyana SOF, OST and chicken dung respectively. The use of foliar fertilizer, on all experimental plants, showed no increase in the growth and production of fresh rhizomes.
