Some vegetational and soil characteristics were investigated on south-west slope (15-20degrees Centigrade) and south-east slope (15-20degrees Centigrade) aspects of summer grazing pasture at an altitude of 1950 m at the study site in Tariat in Khangaj prefecture. Soil in a 0-10 cm layer on the south-west aspect contained a higher amount of gravel and showed lower values of soil water, organic matter, and nitrogen content compared with those of the south-east aspect. The number of species found on the south-west and south-east aspects were 12 and 13, respectively. Of these, only 3 species, namely Festuca lenensis, Aster alpinus, and Galium verm were found on both aspects. Therefore, pasture vegetation differed remarkably according to the aspects. The percentage of vegetational cover on the south-west aspect were 84.8% and 100% on the south-east aspect
