Using standard medical procedures, blood samples were obtained from ten individuals of Philippine spotted deer (Cervus alfredi Sclater) that were tranquilized and antidoted to full recovery. The blood values for this species show an average of 7.8 M/cu. mm for RBC, 5.6 T/cu. mm for WBC, 35.8% for Pack Cell Volume, 74.9% for segmenters, 23.9% for lymphocytes, 0.7% for eosinophils, and apparently none for monocyte and basophil. These values were compared with two other commercially farmed cerbids (i.e. Cervus unicolor and C. timorensis) and two species of domestic ruminants (i.e. sheep and cattle)
