Insecticidal efficacy of the formulated product and aqueous extract from physic nut, Jatropha curcas L. seed kernel oil on cotton insect pests

The aqueous extract had contact toxicity and partial chemosterilizing effect on Aphis gossypii. First instar Helicoverpa armigera larvae were delayed in their molting after feeding on cotton leaves sprayed with the extract. Topical application of the formulated product caused morphogenetic lethal effect on H. armigera larvae. It did not have an ovicidal property yet had a chronic toxicity on larvae from treated H. armigera eggs. Pectinophora gossypiella eggs were effectively controlled to hatch by the formulated product of 1%
