Inheritance of quantitative traits and breeding value analysis of oil sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)
1992
Luczkiewicz, T.
Analysis of canonical variate value permitted to select 8 inbred lines showed the biggest variability for all (16) traits. These inbred lines were crossed in full diallel. In two years experiment F2 of these crosses was analysed. General and specific combining ability was estimated for 11 traits and inheritance of quantitative traits was performed. Additive effects of genes were bigger than dominant gene effects for all traits. In investigated population of inbred lines dominant genes were 2-3 times more frequent than recessives in inheritance of quantitative traits. Individual selection conducted from F3 to F11 generation of diallel crosses permitted to obtain genotypes with higher oil content achenes (6-7 percent) and shorter vegetation period (11 days) in comparison to control cultivar
