The weight of grains per spike depends to a considerable extent on the number of grains per spike, both in winter and spring triticale forms, and on the 1000 grain weight. It was found a negative correlation between the protein content in grain on the one hand and the number and weight of grains per spike on the other, whereas the correlation with 1000 grain weight was low and insignificant
