Carrot as a source of beta-carotene and its effect on the milk yield and reproductive performance in cows

An experiment on 40 Black-and-White lactating cows fed a diet containing 3 kg of carrot was carried out. The beneficial effect of carrots in diet on the day-open interval and fertility rate in cows was stated. No effect of carrot diet supplementation on the milk performance in cows was observed. The higher beta-carotene but not vitamin A content in blood of cows given carrots was noted
