In order to apply regressional designs to compare the growth of four cultivars of lettuce under greenhouse conditions, linear approximation of the middle zone of the growth curves was assumed. Due to the great power of the statistical technique used, statistical significant differences where found which would not have been possible using a classical design with the final weights of the plants

Foi aplicada a tecnica dos delineamentos regressionais a comparacao do crescimento de 4 cultivares de alface em estufa, para o que se utilizou uma aproximacao linear da zona media das curvas do tipo logistico correspondentes ao crescimento em peso das plantas. Devido a elevada potencia do metodo, foi possivel encontrar diferencas significativas entre cultivares, o que nao se verificou ao utilizar-se em delineamento classico considerado somente o peso final das plantas
